Gotland: Larbro Church

The more you explore Gotland, the more stunning medieval churches you find here (how is it that none of them is a UNESCO site?). Next one is the Larbro Church al Larbro Kirka, located right in the middle of the island. The beautiful church also has a defensive watchtower next to it. The church dates back to the 13th century, and is quite unusual – it’s main tower is octagonal in shape, the entrance s decorated with elaborate carvings, and the corners have funny gargoyles. The interior is covered with murals from around 1400 (including one truly amazing, depicting a dragon), the altarpiece is equally old.
