Greenland: Cruising the Icefjord
Icebergs, icebergs, and more icebergs – boating at the mouth of the Icefjord on a clear sunny day is once in a lifetime experience. There are icebergs as far as the eye can see – some humongous platforms half a kilometer long, some relatively small floating and colliding. When approached, one can realize how massive these things are with 9/10 of the body mass being underwater – it takes some serious boat navigating skills not to try to “push them” out of your way. The mouth of the fjord is shallower than the fjord itself so many super-sized icebergs get stuck here – it’s like Manhattan with skyscrapers, except most of the “city” is actually underground.
