Iceland: Fjallsarlon Lagoon

A dozen or so kilometers west from the famous Jokulsarlon Glacier Lagoon lies much lesser known Fjallsarlon Lagoon. While it is smaller and shallower, the iceberg concentration is much higher here as many get stuck at the bottom. You can walk along the shoreline of the glacial lake and admire an absolutely surreal panorama of the glacial lagoon filled with icebergs, the glacier calving in the near distance and the glacier-covered mountain slopes in the background. The mountain in the back is actually the famous Oraefajokull active volcano. Zodiac tours are offered here as well and they get much closer to the stranded icebergs than at Jokulsarlon.
