Iceland: Hverarond Geothermal Area
Hverir aka Hverarond is a geothermal area not far from Lake Myvatn and has a full array of volcanic features on display – from colorful earth to steaming fumarole towers to boiling mud pots. It’s like you are on Mars! This is the Icelandic version of Yellowstone, the earth huffing and puffing at every step around you and the smell of sulphuric in the air is so strong that your head starts spinning by the end of the visit.
