Iceland: Reykjavik – Hallgrimskirkja Cathedral
Without a doubt, the main architectural landmark of Reykjavik, the Hallgrimskirkja church stands on the central high hill of the city and then rises additional 73 meter (225 feet) in a conical shape. It’s the largest church in Iceland. The columns are meant to represent and look like the columnar basalt lava. Inside, the church is simple and austere with a lot of light coming through, and a beautiful organ decorating the main wall. The sculpture of a man on a horse in front of the church is that of Leifur Eirikkson, the man believed to have discovered America in around 1000 AD.
