Indonesia: Borobudur Temple

Borobudur Temple is a 9th century Buddhist temple located in the middle of the Java island in Indonesia; it is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and is a stunning wonder of the world. The temple is surrounded by spectacular jungle scenery and towering volcanoes (it does get rattled with earthquakes quite often). The temple consists of six square platform and then 3 round platforms with perforated stupas and 72 statues of Buddha sitting inside the stupas (some are outside actually). The lower platform walls are decorated with 2,672 reliefs.
