Isle of Man: Laxey Wheel
Laxey Wheel is the largest waterwheel in the world, originally built in 1854 to pump water to the nearby mine. It is over 72 feet in diameter and 6 feet wide. It makes about three rotations per minute. You can walk all around the wheel and climb to the top to examine this engineering wonder. It is featured on the £20 pound Isle of Man banknote
