Israel: Nubian Ibex
Stumbling across a large herd of Nubian Ibex was such a needed change after all the churches and temples and mosques and overall religious overload. Nubian Ibex is a rare desert dwelling species of goat-like animals found in North Africa, Arabian Peninsula, Jordan, and Israel. All in all, only around 1200 remain in the wild – and the herd that was in the Dead Sea was about 50 animals! They can survive almost without water for a very long time, males have enormously large curved horns (relative to their bodies). Naturally, the herd chose the Ein Gedi oases near the town for their pasture.
