Kamchatka (Russia): Valley of the Geysers

The Valley of Geysers is one of only five geyser fields in the world with the second highest concentration of geysers and an absolute must-see in Kamchatka. It takes a helicopter flight to get here, but it’s totally worth it to witness the scale and features of this UNESCO World Heritage Site. There are over 200 active geysers here, 20 of them being large geysers. Sadly, in 2007 a big chunk of a mountain fell in a mudslide burying a large portion of the valley, but the geysers have since recovered and even new ones have reappeared. You can view the valley from many observation spots, as well as explore the valley’s other feautures like mud pool, fumaroles, hot springs, as well as flora and fauna.
