Khabarovsk Krai: Khabarovsk – Exploring City Center
The central part of Khabarovsk is beautiful with historic ornate buildings and yet it seems stuck in a Soviet timewarp – there are Lenin, Marx, and Dzerzhinsky streets as well as a proud statue of Lenin himself on the central square (perhaps is a fluke coincidence there is a bankruptcy shop in the building behind Lenin so when you photograph him – it comes up with the word “bankrupt” right next to him). The streets ooze old Soviet charm and grand brutalist architecture victory monuments galore and gloomy non-smiling people walking the streets. And further off center stands a grand but rather bland Transfiguration Cathedral.
