Kiritimati doesn’t really have restaurants or places to sample interesting dishes. Fishing lodges serve very mediocre food and occasionally cook your catch (wahoo sashimi were quite awesome!). But if you get lucky and get invited to a large local party – like wedding or birthday – you will experience the insane amount of local cuisine specials – octopus, lobster, breadfruit, bananas, raw cubed fish in coconut cream, raw cubed fish poke style, ribs, chicken and even the entire pig cooked in the ground for hours!
