Kiritimati: Landing On Kiritimati

Only one real flight per week flies to Kiritimati (a brief stop in the way from Fiji to Hawaii) – it’s literally in the middle of nowhere – five hours flight from Fiji and three hours flight from Hawaii. Kiritimati is the world’s largest atoll and part of the Line Islands archipelago. Landing here right before sunrise paints a most surreal picture of the clouds, lit by the rising sun and the endless land and water mass of an atoll sands and islets.
