Kiritimati: London

London is the administrative capital of Kiritimati, a couple of the administrative and government buildings are here.l and the total population is around 2K people. A dusty street leads through the town, a several prominent churches are lined along the way as well (Kiritimati is packed with churches, but what else you expect when your island is called Christmas?). The name London comes from its historical connection to the British colonization of the island. When the island was annexed by the United Kingdom in the late 19th century, it was named Christmas Island due to its discovery on Christmas Day in 1777 by Captain Cook. And to commemorate that, the main town was named London. (There is also Paris and Poland on the island).
