Kyrgyzstan: Toktogul Reservoir

Toktogul Reservoir is a large man-made lake midway between Bishkek and Osh and storing water for the six hydroelectric dams down the Naryn river from here. It was created in 1973 with flooding of a massive area and 22 villages, but provided water for the hydro dams and also irrigation of a large piece of territory of fertile lands in neighboring Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan (a major source of revenue for Kyrgyzstan now). Beautiful views at sunset time with snow covered mountains and still waters full of reflections.
