Laos: Pakse – Wat Luang Temple

Wat Luang is not the largest but is the most important temple in Pakse. This is where most of the local monks live, and also the tombs on the ground hold ashes from several important people, including the prime-minister of Laos from pre-independence times. The grand main temple building is particularly interesting with all of its walls covered in paintings depicting various Buddhist themes. This is the most revered temple in Pakse, despite being only about 100 years old.
