Lebanon: Jeita Grottos

Jeita Grottos are probably the most spectacular caves I have ever seen (and I have see a lot). The cave system consists of two levels – you take a cable car to the Upper Grotto and then a train to the Lower Grotto where you explore by boat. The Upper Grotto has three massive halls up to 120 meters high, all decorated with stalactites, stalagmites, and flowstone. The world’s largest stalactite is here – over 8 meters longs. Unlike many other caves – this one is live and still growing and the amount of decoration is just surreal. The Lower Grotto is very different – it’s mostly flooded so you travel by boat but look down deep into the transparent water with insane underwater formations.
