Malaysia: Kuala Lumpur – Historic Center
Kuala Lumpur’s historic center is relatively compact in the area surrounding the Merdeka aka Independence Square where a massive Malaysian flag is waving. A lot of beautiful colonial Victoria-architecture buildings are here including Sultan Abdul Samad Building, National Textile Museum, City Gallery, St Mary’s Cathedral and so one, all along the Gombak River. Also here is the historic Jamek Mosque, one of the oldest mosques in the country, tiny and miniature juxtaposed against all the Kuala Lumpur skyscrapers. In fact, the entire historic center is like a little low-rise oasis surrounded by the forest of tall buildings.
