Malaysia: Kuala Lumpur – Petronas Towers
I really wanted to finally see the Petronas Towers. From 1998 to 2004, these were the world’s tallest buildings, and still remain the world’s tallest twin towers at 452m/1483ft high and 88 floors. The graceful towers get thinner as you go up and are meant to resemble the design of the Qutb Minar, an ancient Islamic minaret that I just visited in India two months ago – a homage to Malaysia’s Islamic culture. The tour takes you first to the skybridge and then the top observation tower for some stunning panoramic views of ultra modern skyscraper-ridden skyline of Kuala Lumpur. Apparently, there is a new tower being built to possible reclaim the highest building in the world title.
