Myanmar: Kandawgyi Lake in Yangon
Kandawgyi Lake is a beautiful lake right in the heart of Yangon, a vestige of old British colonial planning. The lake offers beautiful walkways along its shores (albeit 50% of wooden planks are broken and you are likely to break your leg or fall into water). In the middle of the lake stands Karaweik Hall, a ship-like restaurant and concert hall adding to the overall fairytaleness of the scenery. At sunset, the glimmering gold of the Shwedagon Pagoda illuminates the western shore, as water lilies close for the night.
