Myanmar: Snake Temple in Paleik

Here’s a somewhat unique and bizarre attraction in the small town of Paleik south of Mandalay – Snake Temple. Supposedly, three pythons came down to the temple from the surrounding jungle and deciding to stay, coiling around the Buddha statues. Ever since, it’s a daily procedure of feeding them,hand-washing them, and then letting them crawl back toward the Buddha. All the statutes and mini pagodas around the temple are snake-themed – hundreds of giant snakes staring at you from everywhere.
