Nakhchivan: Yusif ibn Kuseyir Mausoleum
Another ancient mausoleum in the heart of Nakhchivan city is the Yusif ibn Kuseyir Mausoleum. This one dates to 1161. Thee octagonal structure is topped with a conical roof. Similar to other period mausoleums, the decorations include various geometric shapes (on the top part) and kufi Koranic scripts on the bottom. Inside it’s an atmospheric domes ceiling and empty space, the actual burial is underground.
