New Zealand: Whanganui NP – Canoeing on the Whanganui River

A true adventure is canoeing down the Whanganui River along the scenic banks. There are many side trips from the main river up the small creeks with waterfalls and tropical vegetation. There are also awesome pebbly beaches along the way. And finally, there are several areas of rapids, quite serious white water, with one of them sadly causing the canoe to flip over in a cauldron.
