North Ossetia: Alania Fiagdon Male Monastery
The spectacular orthodox monastery situated in the even more spectacular Fiagdon valley in the southeastern part of North Ossetia is just breathtaking – situated opposite a wide open valley with high snow capped mountains in the distance and thousand-year old ancient observation towers dotting the landscape. The monastery is restored and looks new but the construction fully preserves the Ossetian culture and style.
