Okinawa: West coast beaches & underwater observatory

The western coastline has a lot of beautiful white sand beaches, often with upscale resorts, packed with mainland Japanese tourists. In one spot near Cape Busiema there is a long pier/walkway leading out into the open ocean to an underwater observatory. You descend a spiral staircase down around 100 feet to look at the underwater world. And to be honest – it sucked! Poor decrepit corals and very few fish, snorkeling pretty much anywhere gives you more. But the above water scenery is breathtaking nonetheless.
