Panama: Boquete Trea Track – Orchids
The tiny Panama has one of the highest biodiversity when it comes to orchids – over 1500 species – a truly astounding number, making Panama one of the most orchid-rich countries in the world! Very few of them are ground orchids and majority are on the trees and high in the canopy. Hiking and walking along the hanging bridges we were able to find and count 11 species – some very showy with big flowers, while the others absolutely tiny and hardly noticeable – but all stunningly spectacular, elegant, and beautiful – a total botanist’s paradise.
