Peru: Tambopata Reserve – Macaws at the TRC Lodge
Well, macaws didn’t come out down to the clay lick but two scarlet ones showed up at breakfast at the lodge and aggressively went after food. They literally flew onto the table and grabbed bread, and one even feasted on scrambled eggs (a sort of cannibalism suppose). These are not some tame captive birds – they are absolutely wild and live in the vast jungle of the Tambopata Reserve. They just probably figured out that bread is easier and better then clay. The lodge dining is room is open for wildlife to come in at will, as is the bar, serving among other things a very unique beer made from Brazil nuts.
