Samoa: Flat-Billed Kingfisher

The flat-billed kingfisher (Todiramphus recurvirostris) is a species of kingfisher endemic to Samoa (found on both Samoa islands, Upolu and Savaii. This is more of a forest species, relying on insect and and smal reptiles in their diet, rather than fishm using its hard beak to spear and grab insects and then kill them before consuming. The flat-billed kingfisher is a small guy with a rather short and wide bill, blue wings, a greenish-blue back, and a blue cap with white in front of his eyes. Mesmerizing to observe and only in Samoa!
