Sao Tome: Pestana São Tomé Hotel
In my opinion, Pestana São Tomé is the best place to stay the island. It may be slightly aging, but the location is superb – a bit away from the hustle of the city center, but walking distance to it, the fort, and the waterfront. Plus two of the best restaurants in town – Papa Figo and La Pirata – are just feet away in opposite directions. The hotel boasts insanely good breakfasts, oceanfront pool, spa and gym, and very friendly staff. And an unexpected bonus – we found a small friend in the room: a dwarf gecko that is endemic to São Tomé and found nowhere else, he kept us mosquito-free.
