The southern tip of Shetland is home is home to several absolutely stunning beaches, almost tropical looking – with crescents of ultra white sand and translucent aquamarine waters. The most famous is a St Ninian’s Tombolo (tombolo os actually a sand spit connecting an island to mainland). Just around the corner are several other perfect sand crescents (some with seals on them. And all the way south near the airport are two more paradise-like white sand curves. If only they were warm!
