Shetland: Muckle Roe Island

Another great piece of shoreline with cliff and panoramic views at at Muckle Roe island, a small island connected to the Mainland island by a bridge. The name comes from old Norse for “big red island” and likely refers to the rock color of the cliffs and the shore – all red granite. The island is very scarcely inhabited and one can do long hiked around the entire coastline for hours to some even taller cliff and a lighthouse and hidden beaches.
