Maribor is scenically locates on the Drava River and the ancient town dates back to the 12th century when a castle was built here. Some of the old fortifications still remain (like Judgement Tower and Water Tower) as well as the Maribor Castle in the heart of the city and several old churches, including the spectacular Maribor Cathedral. Maribor also boast Europe’s second oldest synagogue from the 14th century. And the world’s oldest vine is located here as well!
