South Georgia: Cruising Along Northern Coastline

South Georgia is a British overseas territory, an island 170km long and 30km wide, stretched north to south. This is some of the most rugged and inaccessible land on earth! South Georgia boasts a breathtakingly beautiful mountainous landscape and cruising along the coast opened a dramatic panorama of towering peaks, glaciers, and fjords. The island’s mountain range is of volcanic origins, and peaks rise to nearly 3000m or over 9000 ft. Majestic glaciers cascade down from the summits, their icy tongues stretching towards the coastline. South Georgia remains mostly pristine and untouched by humans as there are no permanent settlements here. The islands are subantarctic with cold weather, lots of precipitation and severe winds.
