South Georgia: Fortuna Bay – The Beach
Fortuna Bay is a spectacular bay with a valley and glacier behind it and a large king penguin colony. Fortuna Bay has a large, almost 5km wide beach and is somewhat sheltered from the swell, although it’s still a wet landing. A greeting party if king penguins and fur seals awaits you upon landing. The animals are absolutely not slitting (everywhere in South Georgia) and very inquisitive and come close to you .you can spend hours in the pebble beach observing penguin coming and going into the water, and seal pups running toward you and barking.
