South Georgia: Grytviken – Museum & Norwegian Church

The former whaling settlement of Grytviken is uninhabited except for a ranger, there is a awesome Museum Of South Georgia with exhibit on the island exploration and whaling history. Next to it is a Post Office, where you can mail a postcard from one of the most remote and inaccessible islands in the world. Further up is a beautiful church – Norwegian Lutheran Church, built in 1913. It served the Norwegian whaling community that operated in Grytviken.
