Spain/Valencia: Valencian Food Recap
Valencia deserves its own food recap for many dishes that are quite specific to the region. Paella is present everywhere and the Valencian paella in particular has chicken with rabbit and snails in it. Valencian salad is also well known around the world. And of course Aqua de Valencia – the Valencian version of a screwdriver meets gimlet (orange juice plus vodka plus gin plus champagne). It is also worth highlighting several top Valencian restaurants. The first was Mercatbar, considered by some as the best restaurant in Valencia – local food with a bit of fusion mixed in – an absolutely fantastic tasting menu. The second one was Casa Montana, one of the oldest restaurants in Valencia with a very small dining space and a long line to get in even to sit at the bar. The food here is all Valencian with locally sourced incredients. And the third restaurant was named Ahuevo (which sounds funny in Russian) specialty being dishes with eggs and also local Valencian delicacies.
