Sri Lanka: Yala National Park
Yala National Park is supposedly the premier wildlife park in Sri Lanka and the best place to see leopard. Alas, just fresh tracks and noise in the bush that 20 safari jeeps considered to be the leopard home but he (or she) never showed up. Leopard aside, the park is beautiful, with boulders and rocks all over, a lot of lakes water, incredible coastline. Wildlife was plentiful as well – elephants, water buffalo, crocs, spotted deer, mongoose (came really close), water monitors. Oh and also got to see Sri Lanka junglefowl, the national bird of the country, essentially a colorful wild rooster.
