St Kitts: Doves on St Kitts

A couple interesting bird species on the Cockleshell Bay Beach in St Kitts. The first was the Zenaida Dove, a Caribbean species of a mid-sized dove with colorful spotted brown coloring and It’s known for its distinctive soft cooing call and was named after Princess Zénaïde Laetitia Julie Bonaparte, a member of the Bonaparte family. The other one was the Common Ground Dove, another Caribbean specialty and one of the smallest doves in the world. The plumage of the Common Ground Dove is generally grayish-brown, with a lighter coloration on the underside. It has a distinctive scaled appearance on its back and wings, with black spots and pale edges on the feathers. They are shy and timid.
