Swaziland: Hlane NP – Game Drives

Hlane Royal National Park is the largest and most famous wildlife refuge in the small nation of eSwatini. Interestingly it is a private land that belonged to the king as the royal hunting ground and is now held in a trust for the nation by King Mswati III. The park is teaming with animals, in fact to the point of serious overgrazing by roaming elephants. All the big five are here, especially rhinos, who we saw in several parts of the otherwise small park. Lots of giraffes, nyala, impala, warthogs, kudu, and much more. There is also a very high biodiversity of birds, some rather rare. Hlane is the southernmost nesting ground of maribu storks, which are quite abundant in the park.
