Switzerland: Basel – Old Town
Basel lies on the borders of Switzerland, France, and Germany and in fact its suburbs spread out into three countries. The old town lies on the hills above the Rhine and has two fantastic attraction – the surreally bright red and gold Rathaus (City Hall) and the equally red and ornate Munster (Cathedral). The narrow up and down twisted cobblestone streets add even more medieval spirit to the town. Surrounding the historic old city are the city walls with several spectacular towers.
