Switzerland: Geneva

To contrast the nearly purely German Basel – here comes heavily French Geneva, Switzerland’s second largest city. While the old town has twisty cobblestone streets with several important historic buildings and a large cathedral, it’s the shore of Lake Geneva that steals the show here with the main symbol of the city – Jet d’Eau fountain – the water shooting nearly 500 feet up straight in the air (visible from a high altitude flying plane).
