Taiwan: Alishan National Park – Giant Cypress Trees
Alishan is a mountainous area in the center of Taiwan. At over 2,500 in elevation, it’s always cloudy, misty, and rainy here – all great condition for growth of the Taiwanese Res Cyprus. The freezes are massive and old, some over 1500-2000 years old! The boardwalk wind down and up the mountains taking you up close and personal to the massive trunks. The trees are so tall and have such thick crowns that down near the ground it’s almost dark. The boardwalk approaches a total of 36 trees that are over a millennia old.
