Tanzania: Exploring the Ngorongoro Crater
Ngorongoro Crater is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of Tanzania’s most popular wildlife viewing areas – more then 1/2 million people come here every year, and the access is now regulated and restricted. Inside the large volcanic crater, it’s an amazing concentration of wildlife – huge herds of wildebeest and zebras, Thomson’s gazelles, elephants, hippos in the lake, lions, rhinos, buffalo. Unlike in the Serengeti or Masai Mara, the animals don’t migrate from the crater and stay here all year round given abundant supply of water.
