Tanzania: Serenegeti NP – Mara River

Mara River flows through the northern Serengeti, almost dividing Tanzania and Kenya and separating the Serengeti National Park and Maasai Mara Reserve. This river is the sight of the migration crossing from Kenya south around July, when thousands and thousands of wildebeest plunge into the river trying to cross and giant crocodiles feast on them. With the migration now far away in the south of Serengeti, the river is quite without antelopes, but still teaming with hundreds of crocs and even higher numbers of hippos. Plus non-migrating animals like giraffes come here for water. We spend almost an entire day exploring the Mara vicinity.
