Togo: Kara – Grande Marche de Kara
Grande Marche de Kara Kara is the largest town in northern Togo and is also has the largest marketplace in the region. It is a large open space where farmers and traders from all over the surrounding villages bring their stuff – from fruits and vegetables to grains and cereals to livestock and clothing – pure subsistence agriculture. The grain variety is especially staggering – maize, sorghum, pearl millet, and a lot of stuff you never heard of.
