Tristan da Cunha: Circumnavigating the Island
The island of Tristan da Cunha is considered one of the most remote (of not the most) settled location on earth. It’s 2,787 km (1,732 mi) to Cape Town in South Africa, 2,437 km (1,514 mi) to St Helena, and 3,949 km (2,454 mi) to Mar Del Plata in Argentina. The island is roundly round and has a massive mountain in the middle and almost not flat areas except where the inhabited town of Edinburg of the Seven Sea is located. All around, it’s steep cliffs and often cloud- covered top (although we got lucky with a clear day – which is a rarity here since there’s more rain here then in the Aleutian Islands in Alaska).
