Uganda: Mabamba Lodge
A unique and totally underrated place to stay on lake Victoria is the Mabamba Lodge. The place is set right in the shores of the lake, with large tropical gardens and flowers surrounding the individual bungalows (with external bathtubs and showers), a private beach, bonfire place, and dining verandas with sunbirds literally above your head. It is the closest place to the Mabamba Swamp and we were the first to arrive to see the shoebills (way before all the crowds of tourists from Kampala and Entebbe). Birdwatching is insane here with over 300 species that can be seen in and around the area. Surprisingly, we were the only guests staying at the Mabamba Lodge and hot total attention and care of the staff.
