Uganda: Murchison Falls NP – Murchison Falls
Murchison Falls is a massive waterfall on the Victoria Nile – here a wide river is getting squeezed into a super narrow gorge of only 7 meter (20 feet) wide and then tumbling down 43 meters (121 feet). Measured by the speed of the water pushing through the gap – this is the most powerful waterfall in the world – 300 cubic meters per second (11,000 cubic feet per second). You can hike up the falls, starting from a spot downstream and slowly climbing up in the relentless Uganda heat to a high overlook and then continuing up closer so you stand right above the tumbling water – one wrong step – and you are in the grinder
