Uganda: Murchison Falls NP – Red-throated Beeeater

Along the northern bank of the Victoria Nile there is a spot with tall sandstone cliffs with hundreds of holes drilled in it. This is a colony of Red-throated Beeeaters – a spectacularly colorful birds that burrow into holes and emerge to eat insects (mostly bees) in flight. Supposedly, their bright coloration confuses bees into thinking they are flowers.
