USA/CA: Kings Canyon NP – Redwood Mountain Grove
Redwood Mountain Grove is the largest grove of giant sequoia trees on earth! It is the largest expanse of never-logged giant sequoia, all densely packed around a beautiful bowl-shaped canyon. Hiking here is incredible, as you walk around like a tiny little ant underneath unimaginably-humongous trees. One after another, you come to the massive trees, photo-ops abound everywhere. Interestingly, giant sequoias are absolutely fire-resistant and in fact they need fire to germinate seedling from tiny little pinecones. And as if the giant sequoias weren’t enough – there are plenty of other truly huge trees, like sugar pines, Douglas furs, ponderosa pines, white firs, incense cedar, and several others. A loop hike takes around 3 hours.
