USA/DC: Washington DC – Nighttime at the Memorials
A nighttime exploration of the Mall and most of the iconic attraction. First was the White House, all hidden behind the anti-demonstrator blocks (is this America?). Next was the Washington Memorial – with a soaring stella and a distant view of the Capitol across the entire Mall. Apparently, it’s a new fashion to lie with your back against the Washington Monument with your legs up in the air (and when in DC…. so we did that too). Next across the mall and into the WWII Memorial with fountains and lights and finally we ended at the Lincoln Memorial. The most evocative of all the DC memorials in my opinion, austere and atmospheric at the same time.
